Kidsline, one of the most well known brands of crib bedding, is available to customers through many national chains, including Babies R Us, baby specialty stores, and online retailers. Choo Choo crib bedding was introduced by Kidsline in late-2004. Appealing to those interested in a train theme for their nursery decor, Choo Choo appears to be an excellent value at between 0 and 0 for a six-piece set. I was particularly impressed by Kidsline's use of higher quality woven plaid fabrics at this price point.
Choo Choo comes as a six-piece crib set which includes a quilt, bumper, fitted sheet, dust ruffle, diaper stacker, and one valance. The six pieces are also available for separate purchase. The collection is made from 100% cotton fabric, with the exception of the fitted sheet, which is a 65/35 poly cotton blend, and is machine washable. Kidsline normally makes available a very extensive group of nursery decorating accessories to coordinate with their crib sets. However, for unknown reasons, Kidsline chose to offer only the standard accessories with Choo Choo, including: a musical mobile, wall border, drapes, a lamp, night light, and drawer knobs.
The quilt features appliquéd trains around the border with the center of the quilt being a patchwork design of various plaid fabrics. I was pleased to see that the patchwork design is a genuine patchwork pattern, in which the individual patches on the quilt are independent of each other. The patches are made of woven plaids in various colors - red, rust, blue, and green, and two different shades of denim. Woven plaids are created from differently colored threads that are woven together to create the desired plaid pattern. I was glad to see that Kidsline used higher quality fabric in this pattern while retaining their competitive pricing.
The bumper measures 10" tall with ties on both the top and bottom. One minor limitation of the bumper is that it is in one continual piece, which makes washing slightly awkward. The inward facing part of the bumper continues with the train theme as the appliquéd trains are centered against plaid borders. The outward facing bumper is a simple blue plaid. The dust ruffle has approximately a 10" drop to complete the look of the collection. The valance measures 13.5" by 60" and is in the rod style. The diaper stacker measures 26" by 12" and can hold up to two-dozen diapers. The fitted sheet is made using a printed train pattern. I would caution you to be aware of potential color/pattern fade in the sheet from multiple washings and extended wear & tear. However, additional fitted sheets are available that match the Choo Choo pattern; or consider buying inexpensive solid colored sheets for everyday use and save the Choo Choo sheet for special occasions..
Unfortunately for Canadian consumers purchasing from a United States online retailer, the Choo Choo bedding collection is manufactured in China. Customers in Canada would be required to pay import duties of as much as 18% of the stated prices.
